Traditionally, the Korachani empire was the political entity that dominated the land surrounding the Inner Sea. It originated in over 4,000-years ago following the rise of the merchant prince Malichar Adhhat, who would later become the Archpotentate Malichar, ruler of the Korachani Empire. The empire spread from the Korachani peninsula, dominating neighbouring nations, reaching at its peak as far West as Almagest and as far East as Venthir, with colonies as far afield as the Sea of Eschata in Western Sammaea.
In 3705 RM the empire collapsed due to internal strife, sundering into two – the High-empire of Korachan to the North of the Inner Sea, and the Reformed Empire of Sarastro, dominating lands to the south (though Venthir remained under control of the High-empire of Korachan). Almagest had itself broken away in 3014 RM following the War of the Artifexes.
